2004 Royler Gracie/David Adiv Gi Championship

RGDA Championships Wrap up

The RGDA Championships were held on Sunday, December 5, 2004. With over 80 competitors and well over 100 spectators the event was a tremendous success.

Thanks go out toRGDA black belts David Adiv, Rosendo Diaz and Louis Vintaloro for overseeing, refereeing and over all lending assistance to all those competitors. Also we would like to thank, Mike Mrkulic, Brett Hoover, Gavin Enck, Bill Stevens, Ray Liberto, Mark Dengler, Keith Neff, Jason Tabor and Angelica for all their help working tables and refereeing.

This year's tournament was held at Johnny Guerreros Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in West Orange, NJ. Johnny was a gracious host who worked tirelessly to ensure that the event went off without a hitch.

This year featured a more local turnout with RGDA affiliated academies from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware being represented well by some really tough competitors.

**********Superfight**********

Michael Trasso, Montclair BJJ, fought a great superfight. This was his 1st match against an adult. Micheal put on a great demonstration of the effectiveness of Jiu-Jitsu against a heavier opponent. He took the match by points.

Towards the end of the tournament David Adiv, Rosendo Diaz and Louis Vintaloro presented some well-deserved promotions:

Tyrone Elijah from Elijah Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy received his brown belt.

Gavin Enck from the Modern Combat Academy received his purple belt.

Robert Colon from IMAF, West Academy received his blue belt.
