Late Rally Falls Short for Anchormen

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College came back from an 18-3 deficit by winning the last four bouts, but fell two points shy, 18-16, of cross-city rival Johnson & Wales in a Pilgrim Wrestling League match held at The Murray Center.

The hosts needed two majors to at least tie the match and junior 141 lbs. Mike Trasso (Lyndhurst, NJ) used a five-takedown effort to score a 12-3 win over freshman Colby Clarke (Foster, RI) at 141 lbs. Needing five points to tie, RIC freshman Kevin Barrucci (Burlington, MA) earned a 7-2 win, but was held off by JWU sophomore Dan Franco (Staten Island, NY) who fell by only a three-point decision.
